Founding Partner
James Wang is an investor and advisor supporting founders building transformative companies in finance, technology, and healthcare. As founder of Mimosa Ventures, he partners with early-stage startups, offering strategic guidance informed by his operational and financial expertise.
James was the fourth employee at Alerian, a leading energy infrastructure data and analytics firm. As Director of Data Science, he led the development of the company’s flagship indices and analytics platforms, helping grow the business from inception to over $20 billion in AUM. His work combined technical rigor with a focus on scalable infrastructure, a philosophy he continues to apply in venture investing.
He later led financial operations at Preciate, guiding the company through a successful Series A. James began his career in equity research at Raymond James, where he built a strong foundation in financial modeling, valuation, and sector analysis. A Johns Hopkins University graduate with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, he brings a unique blend of technical precision and business acumen to his investments.
